Brian makes music as Unduplicated Uniques, which is an old internet analytics term for measuring visitors to a website. He often enlists friends and family to sing and play along.
Hampf
Brian co-founded the 90s Seattle rock band Hampf. They performed throughout Seattle and the Pacific Northwest. They were known for their stories, wordplay, and eclectic genre-mixing music.

The name of the album and title song comes from a line in Beckett’s Waiting For Godot, encapsulating an entire human life metaphorically: “They give birth astride of a grave, the light gleams an instant, then it’s night once more.” That light – that’s the good stuff.
“I Made a Circle” celebrates the creative spirit and features August Robinson.
“Doin’ Nuthin’s Doin’ Sumpthin’” features clarinetist Theo Robinson.
“It Was Fun While It Lasted” salutes shared experiences that ended too soon.

Damned Pandemic was written during the COVID-19 pandemic, when Brian returned to writing and recording music.
“Buck Up” tells the story of a small town mother who has one bad day.
“Heirloom Sugar” displays Brian’s fascination with creating fake brands and features Myles Boisen on pedal steel guitar.
“Contrapposto” celebrates the word that means standing with most of your weight on one leg. It’s a common pose in art and sculpture (e.g. Michelangelo’s David), and this song has been weirdly popular in Italy.

Hampf
Complete Works includes almost all of the songs Hampf recorded and distributed around Seattle on CDs and cassette tapes, along with demos, live performances, and practice session recordings.
“Ratchet” tells the story of young man in love playing that old she-loves-me-she-loves-me-not game… with a blowtorch and a public sculpture of a flower.
“El Camino” ponders a philosophical question that tormented many Americans from the 60s to the 90s – “Is a Chevy El Camino a truck, or a car?” It was Hampf’s most-requested song.
“Bougainvillia” tells the story of a young man serenading his love from beneath her cubicle in an office tower.
Many of the songs were featured in Hampf’s musical play, Zerohead, which was chosen one of the Best of the Festival at the New City Playwrights Festival and was performed at the Seattle Fringe Festival.
